In which legally regulated cases can I withdraw my pillar 3a?
There are a few milestones in life where you can withdraw your 3a assets early:
Retirement is calling: When you reach reference age (or up to five years before).
Your own four walls: When you need money for home ownership, renovations, or (partial) mortgage repayment. Important: It must be a owner-occupied property. Holiday homes or investment properties do not count. Details on drawing money for renovations can be found in our blog post.
Your own business: When you take up self-employment, i.e. active in a sole proprietorship or partnership. The (co-)founding of a GmbH or AG is excluded.
Emigrating: If you leave Switzerland permanently.
2nd pillar buy-in: For targeted buy-ins into the pension fund.
Hardship cases: In the event of disability or death.
Good to know: If you simply want to switch to another provider, a transfer of your account balance to another retirement savings foundation is of course possible at any time.
